After Hurricane Sandy where we had 10 hrs of sustained 100+ mph winds, my insurance company is agreeing to refasten my 5v metal roof. However 2 roofing contractors are saying manufacturers don’t recommend refastening and will not warrant the work. What is the truth about refastening and is there a manufacturer or industry document that I can provide insurance company to push for replacement?
Several nearby roofs are being replaced by same insurance company. So, I think we want to push for new roof.

I am pretty certain that re-fastening is not going to get you a manufacturer's wind warranty restored. That said, I am not sure that your insurance company really is required to provide a manufacturer's warranty.
