We are having a metal roof installed as I type this. There is a problem that I am not sure is a problem. I don't have a pic of the metal roof right now, but have attached a picture to show where the problem exists. I need to know is this a problem? Is it fixable or is it something that's not a big deal? In the pic, I used paint and tried to draw out the way it looks. My paint skills suck! But where you see the black circled area is a dip in the roof line. The roofer came down with the metal matching up from the top of the roof to the dip perfectly on the left side of the bay windows but on the right side the seams on the roof do not match up. You can see by the lines I drew. Is this normal, is it okay? Do we need to do something different? Look at the second photo where the house with the red roof has the same type dip

The detail that you picture and describe can be a difficult matter to keep the panel alignment through the pitch change (dip). In most cases, this is not a performance issue, as there should be a transition flashing that would "protect" the top edges of the seams from having water enter the system. And, with the installer having to restart the lower pitch after the valley, insuring that the ribs of the standing seam align through the bay window, can be difficult. If the transition is performed properly, this is an aesthetic issue and not a performance concern.
