How would you recommend venting a new SS metal roof over an unvented, finished attic?
The house is in S. Fla. so any venting scheme must withstand high winds.
If you do not recommend venting, how do you deal with condensation on the underside of the metal?

First of all, make CERTAIN that the manufacturer is okay with installing their roofing without decking on a residential job. Many manufacturers require decking and underlayment.
As far as venting, I would suggest eave soffit vents as intake and ridge vent as exhaust. Make sure that a proper ridge vent is installed. I just had another call today from a homeowner with a metal roof manufactured and installed by companies that were not MRA members and, unfortunately, their ridge vent is really messed up and causing problems.
You definitely should seek for a roof that is proven on residential applications, installed by an experienced contractor, and one that meets the quality requirements of the MCA Certified Metal Roofing program.

My contractor and I are planning on putting a standing seam galvalume roof over icynene expanding insulation, which uses a ventless attic. i thought that asphalt shingles would just bake over a ventless attic and that the metal would withstand the heat better. have you had any experience in this sort of application?
