The MRA continues to focus on growing the perception and use of metal roofing within the roofing and home building industries. By having a presence at trade shows throughout the year the MRA is able to connect with installers, suppliers, manufacturers and business owners to discuss the benefits of metal roofing in their line of work. In February the MRA attended two shows with the goal of creating and nurturing relationships with these key industry members: the International Roofing Expo (IRE) in New Orleans; and the National Frame Building Association (NFBA) Frame Building Expo in Columbus, Ohio. Below is a recap of the MRA's experience at each show.
International Roofing Expo (IRE) – February 6-8
IRE is designed for commercial and residential roofing contractors, builders, remodelers, building owners, facility managers, estimators, specifiers, architects and engineers of any level. The IRE gave the MRA the opportunity to bring on new contractors as members while answering questions and engaging with contractors who attended the show, including current members, Fabral Metal, McElroy Metal, Boral Metal, and Dupont. Pictures from the show are posted below.
Fabral Metal displaying beautiful copper
Boral Metal showing how their steel stone coated roofing stays much cooler
McElroy Metal demonstrating their system that can be installed over asphalt
Dupont showing their Protec 200 roofing underlayment, with a 50 year warranty. This unique pattern allows for better traction and grip while walking on the roof among other great features.
NFBA Frame Building Expo – February 14-16
NFBA is a non-profit trade association that promotes the interests of the post-frame construction industry and its members. It's annual Frame Building Expo is touted as the premier event for post-frame professionals.
At the event, the MRA was able to take advantage of talking with frame builders moving into residential construction and more specifically residential metal roofing. The MRA answered questions, introduced members, onboarded new members and captured three seminars that will soon be available for member contractors in industry resources:
- Residential Metal Roofing and Your Post-Frame Business - Todd Meinhold, President, H&D Quality Builders/Cool Roofs
- Preparing for Your Move to Residential Construction - R. David O'Brien, CPA, CGMA, Director of Construction Services, Weber O'Brien, Ltd
- Understanding and Selling Residential Metal Roofing - Todd Miller, President, Isaiah Industries, Inc.
Other MRA member companies were also at the expo, including Fabral, AkzoNobel, Isaiah Industries, Dura Coat Products, Decra Roofing Systems, Steel Dynamics, Inc, Boral Metal, McElroy Metal, Valspar, and Precoat Metals.
