What Type of labor & material warranty should come with a metal roof. How long? and should it be non- prorated? should it contain a water tightness guarantee? some companies offer lifetime is that a joke or can they really do that. Please advise! As an association we are limited in our comments on warranty. Labour and water tightness are typically related to the workmanship and as such this warranty comes from the contractor. Once you choose a system them spend a proper amountv of time selecting a contractor and please get referances on similar work and check them out. Proper metal roofing has been independantly tested for wind driven rain, wind uplift, etc and if you have a concern ask to see their product approval report that shows it has been tested and reviewed to the building codes. Check out ICC Evaluation Service at www.cc-es.org to see if the product has a report.
