I would like to add on (extend) to an existing ss roof.
The pitch is 12/12, and the add-on is also 12/12/, ie no change in pitch. In the attached photo, the proposed roof would extend down another 7'.
To minimize visible interruptions, is it possible to "slip under" the existing panels?
If not, what are the recommendations?

This type of standing seam can not be lapped vertically.
A couple of options:
1. Take the panels off and put new full-length panels up.
2. Drop the new roof down a little from the existing roof (1-3/4" or so) and use a metal trim to go between the sections.
There may be other solutions I am not thinking of.

Good point about lowering the rafter 1 3/4", which is the wall height of our material.
This still causes an appearance disruption, which we wanted to minimize. We were hoping to slide the new panel under the old panel and maybe cut off rhe "clip" portion of the vertical standing seam on each side for 4-6" to allow the new panel to slip into the old panel. Maybe not possible.
