Hi. I'm a remodeling contractor in Connecticut. I have a customer who is looking to have a new metal roof installed on a small barn with solar panels attached to the roof. I've seen a thin type that looks east to install but I'm not sure about the amount of energy they can produce compared to some of the other types.

Many standing seam roofs are bing installed using the thin film laminates. They are non obtrusive and integrate well with the roof. Overall, especially in less sunny climates, their performance is very good.
