It is important to cut galvalume and galvanized with a shearing action rather than with a saw cut. By cutting it with a shearing action, the protective zinc and aluminum coating on the steel will wipe over the raw edge and provide corrosion protection. If someone ever wishes to, they can certainly apply a rust inhibiting paint to the cut edges as well. Hi! Todd, Would you comment the criteria of choosing thickness of zinc coating regarding to the galvanized steel base thichness. the application is for enclosure sitting next to sea shore.
