We want to reroof with metal over an existing asphalt shingle roof. We are going to put down felt, 2 x 4, ANOTHER layer of 3/4 plywood, more felt and then the metal roofing. Is that too much weight?

It would seem to make more sense to simply remove the existing shingles, put down felt, and put the metal roofing directly over that.
This would in most cases reduce the weight instead of adding to it, and be a much easier installation as well.
