We're building a new house, planning on a metal roof, and tentatively planning on a 3:12 pitch. Having now heard and read in several places that 3:12 is the minimum pitch for most residential metal roofs, my husband - always one to err on the side of caution - is now worried that we should go with a higher pitch. Are there good reasons to avoid this 3:12 pitch? Would a higher pitch give us fewer problems in the years ahead?
