I want to change the color of my aluminum shingle roof. I don't have any problems with the roof except for some small areas on the edges that appear to have some corrosion. The current color is pale green. I am having the roof pressure washed. I called the manufacturer and they said I didn't need primer, but could just use what Lowe's recommended, i.e. Valspar. Yet other places say I must use an oil based primer, then elastomeric, and then paint. I went to Sherwin Williams and they said to use their direct to metal paint. I am confused and just want to do this correctly.

I like Sherwin Williams and generally prefer to see a primer used. However, for a project like this, I'd feel comfortable going with what bthey suggest.
