I live outside Denver, at an altitude of 6500 Ft. My home is plotted Front - NW Back SE - the back gets some pretty intense sun, and the elevation does not help much either. I am trying to make the decision on going shingle or metal. I like the look, and all the attributes of metal. One of the contractors bidding the job said that the "verdict is not in yet" on using metal roof here in Denver. Can you shed any light on this or point me to reports??

One (1) other thing i wanted to add relative to price - my house requires 42 squares and the price differential is slightly more than 2 X that of 50 year shingle. Because the metal can be installed over my existing roof, I anticiapte that this gap will be narrowed even more as the contrator will providing a revised bid that takes out the labor and displacement of the existing roof.

Wow. Metal roofing is very proven in Denver and mountain areas. There are metal roofs all over out there. Not sure what else to say. If you email direct to me at [email protected] I will send you my guide to metal roofing which will help you understand the various products and options.
