Hello, I have a client who gets a lot of dirt build up on top of their standing seam roof, which in turn runs off onto the fascia and causes streaking on the fascia. Cleaning works occasionally, but soot or whatever else is in the dirt adhers well and is very difficult to remove. This is a regular occurence for them and unsightly. We obviously can't get rid of the dirt, but is there some type of coating (polyurethane, etc.) that we could put on the roof that would help the dirt to completey, or almost completely, run off of the roof and fascia and prevent its adhesion? Thanks in advance for any help.

The problem is that direct doesn't stick to the roof. You may try an extended drip edge to help kick the water away, or gutters ... or they could try a metal fascia cover with a Kynar coating.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I do think I have a problem with the roof as well. I wish I had a clear photo to show, but I don't. The building in question is in a heavy industrial area in southern California (near LA), and I think the accumulation they are getting is more than just dirt...its a mixture of dirt, soot, pollution etc. Any thoughts??? Thanks!
