I had a customer ask if there were special precautions that should be taken to minimize vulnerability to lightning strikes. Are aluminum, steel, and/or copper roofs more suceptable to lightning strikes than composition shingle roofs?

According to the Metal Construction Association, as well as other sources, there is no evidence of this. While metal conducts electricity, it does not "draw" it. Lightning hits the highest object in an area, regardless of what it is made of.
