I have a metal roof on my home in new hampshire. The upstairs room and the kitchen have a metal roof directly over them and every storm we have with lightning knocks out our phone lines and modems. This does not happen in the living room that is below another room. could this be caused by the metal roof not being grounded?

Norman,
I have never heard of anything like this and I am having a tough time drawing a possible connection between the two. However, I do not want to just dismiss your concern either.
What do you mean by "knocks out?" Have you asked the phone company what is going on and what they do to repair it each time?
