Hello,
We live on top of a hill in an exposed area, subject not only to strong winds but also lighting. We are considering replacing our asphalt shingle roofing with metal. We are concerned about whether or not a metal roof would attract lighting, since metal is a conductor? If the metal roofing would attract lighting, any way to install it or otherwise do something else to make it safe against lighting? Any comments and helpful information related to metal roofing and possible danger from lighting would be appreciated.
Thank You.

Hi Deb. I answered your earlier post as well.
Lightning hits high objects, regardless of what material they are made from.
Traditional lightning arrest systems can be installed on most metal roofs if the owners wish.
