To the best of my knowledge I do not know any metal roofing manufacturer that requires metal roofing to be grounded. Metal roofing absorbs and disperses any lightning hit uniformly over the roof and as the metal does not contain water it does not explode like wood or asphalt shingles when struck.
We have had certain consumers whose home was on a high hill with few trees and located in an area that had numerous lightning storms. They installed a lightning arrestor on their previous roof and wanted their new metal roof tied in to the ground cable. For this you just need to contact the manufacturer of the roof system you choose and get their recommendations.
