I live in a wood frame house in the west coast of Canada. A contractor has installed a metal roof on a low slope roof with internal gutter system. This replaces an old tar and gravel roof and is supposed to be warrantied for life. Everything looks okay but my concern is that the contractor has stopped the metal about 18 inches from the gutter and down pipes and from then a EPDM rubber sheet is used for the gutter system and not metal. The contractor says this is industry standard and the gutter will last 40 yrs easy. I am just not sure if this is true and if not, how should it really be done.
