I recently applied for homeowners insurance through another insurance company. The application was denied because I have a GI corrugated metal roof (24 or 26 gauge?). I would like to challenge their decision but need more information. Is my roof sturdy, durable and long lasting? The roofing was installed by a roofing contractor appx 16 years ago. I live in the southwest with sunshine over 330 days a year. Not much annual rainfall and an occational snow and very little humidity. Any information will be appreciated.

Gary,
There is plenty of info on this site pertaining to the durability and other benefits of metal roofing. Of course, I cannot say anything particular about your roof without seeing it but I suspect you have a very sound and fucntioning roof system which will do fine for many more years.
I believe this is the first time I have ever heard of this problem.
