I know there are different gauges for the metal roofs. What is the mininum guage on the roof, what would you recommend for long lasting and durability? Also does high guage number mean thinner, please let me know, I wouild appreciate it, thanks.

On steel, the higher the gauge, the thinner the metal.
We really do not take any position on minimal or optimal metal thickness because we know that panel performance is dependent upon panel design and metal thickness is just one component of design. A poorly designed panel, by its very nature, can be made better by thicker metal and, likewise, a well designed panel can be worsened by thin metal.
My suggestion is to use this site, find some products you like, and contact their manufacturers to request information on performance and test data.
