I am bidding on a set of plans for a remodel addition that calls for 22 GA. Cortin Corrugated Metal Roof. The architect is unavailable for comment. I believe it is a mispell and should be Corten not Cortin. I need to find any/all info on this product. Correct spelling? Manufacturer? Retail Sales? (I am in Southern California) Proper installation? Flashing Details? Finishes? (Per owner it is suppose to rust for patina). Options? Thank you for your time.

It is generally made by US Steel and you can look it up on their web site although they have had many bad experiences with the product used as roofing in the wrong environment. Contact ATAS our member manufacturer, I believe they supply it out of theor Phoenix facilty.

Certainly my conversations with US Steel are negative on the subject as their are too many possibilities that can go wrong and the liability associated with it. There are still a number of people who want the look. Red oxidised steel will last a long time if moisture is not present. Every time it rains or snows and even dew to that poit, it tends to wash off the oxidation, exposing fresh steel which then oxidises. Generally they buy a standard utility panel in Galvanized which has a lower coating thickness and then have it treated with an acid wash to accelerate the aging.
