I have been looking at replacing my present roof with a metal roof. My Mrs is concerned about what effect a metal roof would have in the event of a fire.
Thanks,

There are two types of fire pressure to be concerned about; exterior and interior.
Metal roofing is non combustible and considered a class A fire rated roof when installed in new construction or when the existing roof is torn off. Many manufacturers have fire tests included in their product approval reports that further provide fire rated assemblies when roofed over certain existing materials.
When there is an internal fire, metal is light weight and has certain structural properties that allow it to hold the roof structure together longer than any other material increasing life safety. Metal is one of the best choices for fire considerations.
