AT ANY TIME CAN FELT PAPER BE RUN FROM THE TOP OF THE HOME DOWN TO THE GUTTER? I'M USE TO THE FELT BEING RUN SIDE TO SIDE, STARTING AT THE GUTTER LINE.

Felt paper or other underlayments being used as moisture barriers should be run horizontally. An exception might be to run an additional thickness up valleys or gables.

I am having my home in Ft Myers Beach, Florida reroofed with galvalume. The shingle roof will be removed downto the bare sheathing which is 5/8 plywood. I have read about the Tri Flex 30 vrs 30# felt and wondered what your thoughts are regarging the two products on mositure control?

The synthetic underlayments, like Tri Flex, are fairly new to the US market. However, they have spread rapidly and seem to be doing a good job. Some of the comments I have heard are that they are lower weight, easier to install, more tear resistant, and more durable, especially if left exposed to the weather.
They also serve the dual purpose of being a slip sheet whereas with 30-pound you should put an additional slip sheet on top.
One word of caution - synthetic underlayments breathe only through their seams. You will want to make sure you have proper attic ventilation.
