This depends on a number of crteria such as climatic area, roof slope, sheet length, substrate, nail vs screw and most important is the product.
We can not strongly enough recommend that you contact the manufacturer and get their recommendations. There are many types of screws that have differant proven holding strengths into differant substrates as example. A #9 screw will not hold as much as a #12. They will not hold as good in OSB sheets as they do in CDX plywood. Again contact the manufacturer and you may also may want to contact the local building officials as they may have certain requirements.
