I want to install a black metal roof, my husband and father-in-law said you should not install a black roof because the color is bad for cooling and light reflection. But they insist that dark green is fine. Does the color matter, white, black, green, red, grey ????? Thank you!!

Lighter colrs are more reflective and this can reduce attic temps and a/c loads.
However, there are things which can be done with ventilation and metal roofing which can also be effective at creating a "cool" roof even in a dark color
Also, some manufacturers are now using reflective pigments in their paints so that even in dark colors they reflect radiant heat.
