I recently installed a metal roof with help of a man who has worked for a metal roof installation company for years. He installed the drip edge over the felt. I questioned it but he said that was the way they had always done it. After the job was finished I read that the felt is supposed to go over the drip edge. Is this critical enough that I should take the metal up at least enough to fix the problem or can I just leave it as is?

Underneath the felt should be okay provided two things:
1) If the felt hangs over the fascia, make sure that any gutters installed on the roof are, if they are high enough, tucked behind the drip edge and the felt
2) If the roof is installed and flashing correctly so that minimal moisture is ever coming down the felt

Did you mean that it is OK if the felt is under the drip edge? I may have worded it wrong but thats what happened. He put the drip edge on top of the felt.
Thanks,
David
