We moved into a home with a metal roof and do not know much about them. We also recently had our house painted and the painters dented some of the roof while walking on it. It appears to not have any chips (from the part I can see), but the dents are obvious. Can these types of dents be repaired or will we have to replace part of the roof?

The dents probably don't affect the integrity of the roof, but you could try a kit designed to take dents out of cars like this one:
