Lori, Included in the financial bailout package are incentives for installing Energy Star rated metal roofing. These incentives will be for roofs installed in 2009. See: http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=products.pr_tax_credits (copy and paste into top address bar) Basically it is a tax credit for 10% of the material cost, up to $500 Again only if it is installed in 2009 can this tax credit be taken.
