I am planning to roof an outbuilding with used corrugated 'tin'. The used sheets I have are so thin that they buckle when stood on. I was planning to just double layer it to provide more strength. However, a carpenter advised against this, saying that bad rust would form between the sheets. I don't see how that would happen if no water gets between the sheets. What do you say? Thanks.

Items will rust in the absence of bulk moisture (i.e. rain).
If the substrate is subject to oxidation, you will get that between the courses of panels as a result of atmospheric humidity and an inability of the space to dry to outside.
