Interested in installing a paneled metal roof close to the ocean but am concerned about rust. Can you give me some indication of corrosion resistance of metal roofs and a recomendation of a manufacturer with good rust resistance ?
Thanks, BI

If you are not wanting to pay a premium price for an exotic metal such as copper or zinc, then you can look at a coated steel roof system. Being close to the ocean you should choose a roof produced from Galvalume coated steel which is a zinc/aluminium alloy bonded to the steel core which provides 2 to 6 times the durability over galvaized steel. Choose a high quality coating such as a KYNAR 500 or granular coated.
As to the rust, it depends whether you are in a salt spray situation which is the worse case. As well it depends on how much precipitation your area gets annually coupled with the slope of the roof to keep the surface flushed clean. Choose a well qualified contractor and ensure that all scratches in the coating are healed with touch up provided.
As to a manufacturer, I would go back to the MRA web site and choose a system that appeals to you and contact the manufacturer directly to see what restrictions they have. Good luck.
