I am considering a metal roof (SL-16) for an addition to our home. The existing roofing is comp and I want to tie-in the metal roof to the comp. The tie-in would be located on a very steep portion of a gambrel roof. Local codes don't allow valley flashing. Is there a kit, method etc. to allow this tie-in? Thanks so much.

It seems odd to me that the codes wouldn't allow valley flashing. I've never heard of that in all my years.
Without it, it would be hard to add most types of additions on. You could do an addition that had a one sloped roof. This would take a transition flashing instead of a valley.

Nate, I was as puzzled as you. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the code doesn't allow for the valley flashing to be showing on a comp roof (a closed valley). We both know that on a metal roof the valley has to be there and exposed.
