We are in the process of replacing our hurricane destroyed shingle roof with a metal roof. The "old" roof remains were taken off 3 weeks ago and the "waterproof" layer was applied-it appears as though it is self sticking. I was told by many that the metal should be placed within 3 weeks of taking old roof off. I want to be knowledgable about the process of instillation. Unfortunately, many of us Floridians are at the mercy of roofing companies because-I have been waiting since october. I just want to know if my concern is justified?

The roofing industry is busy supplying this market especially metal products which are now proven to resist wind the best. If you follow the news you will know that there is a tight world steel supply at the moment and manufacturers may not have the specific colour and profile you chose in stock, so there could be a delay especially if it is a sheet good whicyh needs to be ordered to length. It sounds like the contractor applied a peal and stick ice and water shield on the roof. The good quality ones can be exposed for over 6 months without an issue. I am sure he will be there as soon as the material becomes available and three weeks does not sound bad compared to the 22 week wait for concrete tile.
