You said to clamp a piece of plywood to the seam but I don't understand how to do that. Please give more detail.

I am not sure that "clamping" is the right phrase. Usually when boards are laid on top of metal roofing, they are either braced from the bottom or hung from the top or both. Sometimes "chicken ladders" are also hung from the ridge and then, if desired, ladder jacks can be used to support wallboards spanning between multiple ladders.
