I am interested in having a permanent anchor installed as part of a re-roof where we are switching to .032" aluminum standing seam from asphalt shingles. Is there a way this has been done successfully before that I can share with my contractor?
My preference would be an aluminum anchor due to corrosion concerns with my house ~100' from salt water, but stainless seems like it may be OK too.
For the warranty, the roof has to be cleaned annually so I would feel much safer being clipped in with the tallest parts of my roof being about 30' feet up and thinking the aluminum could be slippery.

Sometimes anchors can be concealed by a flashing but ultimately you want them secured into the structure, not just the roof or roof deck. You should be able to find a stainless steel anchor that will be rust resistant and compatible with the aluminum.

My contractor said he hasn't put an anchor on a house before and while he thinks he can make it work, for a roof that is supposed to last (and costs so much) I want to know that this anchor isn't going to be a problem. It is that uncommon? How do workers comply with OSHA if it isn't common to have anchors on standing seam roofs?

I do not have any photos of installed anchors unfortunately. There's a Facebook group called Metal Roof Installers. If your contractor joins that group and posts a request for information and photos of anchors, I think they will be helpful. Any sort of anchor will be a penetration through the roof. But, there are lots of other penetrations in most roofs as well. It can be done. Anchors are a bit easier in fact due to being at the ridge.
