Are you sure the roof can't be fixed here? The surfaces that I see here don't look beyond a surgical repair.
I love metal, but I hate to trash a good slate roof for a few missing slates.

That appears to be asbestos? In many cases, state EPA offices will recommend encapsulation ... but the ICC building code forbids it ... so there is that to deal with. Yes, I have seen installations over this ... lots of things to consider including what's beneath it and also how badly the asbestos breaks up if you try to fasten through it. That said, the building code forbids this sort of application so I do not recommend it. Removing the asbestos will require following EPA requirements.

Good catch. While on the scale of friability, it's low...you still need to stay within the letter and law.
