I have an existing metal roof on a double wide mobile home. The installer said I would not need a ridge cap, however, the heat build-up is terrible and I want to install some vents in the roof. Are there vents made specifically for metal roofs? I have only been able to find vents for shingle roofs that can be used on a metal roof, but have been advised to make sure the installer really knows what they are doing or I am going to have big problems with leaks.

David, are there any intake vents at the bottom of the roof, such as in the soffits? Can you post or send me a photo of your roof so that I know what type of meta roof you have? ([email protected]) Once I hear back from you, I will give you my best advice.

I do have the traditional soffits on a mobile home that run the length of the home on front and back.

That is good. You need those to provide intake air to feed to the ridge exhaust vent.
