I am having my shingle roof replaced with metal on my doublewide in Florida. The old roof had many pipes and vents including both bath toilets, both bath exhaust fans, kitchen sink and stove exhaust fan, two radon vents and two large circular heat exhaust vents. The old shingle roof also had an ridge cap (not sure of terminology). The roofer is installing metal over shingles without furring strips and using a plastic type underlayment. He advised the heat exhaust fans did not need to be replaced and looks like it won't have that same ridge in the middle to let out any heat. Also Is not replacing all of the pipes that were up there. Do I need all of my vent pipes replaced and does this seem appropriate with regards to the heat venting? Thank you.

Additionally, anything that was vented through the roof previously (unless it is inactive), should be vented through the roof now as well. I hope this helps.

You can't just close up a ridge vent and call the roof a non-vented design.
