I’m having a house built & went with 26 gauge prime rib metal in charcoal color. The installer is almost complete, but I’m seeing some issues with the roof. I’ll try to load some pics... one issue is that there are ‘bubbles’ all over the metal that really stand out in the sunlight. These ‘bubbles’ are not located where there are screws, I’m wondering what caused them? Secondly, the edges of some of the sheets of metal are not flush with the adjoining sheets, how did this happen? Is there any way for the roofer to fix these issues? Am I just being too picky? I’m supposed to meet with the roofer in a couple of days, but wanted to get an opinion from the roofing experts on this website. Thanks in advance.

Do you know the manufacturer and who is warrantying it? The screw pattern does not seem right and is probably contributing to the gapping at the overlaps. As far as the ripples, that is oil canning and it may be due to imperfections in the flatness of the roof deck. All Best.

I don’t know much about metal roofing materials, so I’m not sure if I’m answering your question correctly about the manufacturer. I’m also not sure if it’s common practice for a metal company to ‘mold’ their own sheets... is that normal? I will say that, I’ve not seen any metal like mine on other houses. As for the oil canning issue, if I’m understanding you correctly, it sounds like the problem is with the roof deck not being flat? Is the roof deck the plywood that’s put down? Or is it the felt that’s put down before the metal is laid? And is there any way for the roofer to fix this issue? Thanks again!

The main reason I asked is that the panels on your roof are not of a design I am familiar with. You need to verify what warranty you're getting, and also confirm the fastening pattern is correct. Usually, I'd expect fasteners in the overlaps between the panels. I am not certain the decking is the reason for the oil canning but I think it might be. Yes, decking would refer to the plywood. I would suggest seeing if the manufacturer can come look at things and help determine what's going on and how it might be addressed.
