Concern re: Look of "Crick"

I’ve just had a final inspection on a new metal re-roof job at my house in Naples, FL. The old asphalt 3-tab roof close to 20 years was completely destroyed during hurricane Irma. Ok, experienced roof contractor did an awesome job on the install of the v-crimp metal roof, however, couple days after the county inspection I noticed one area of the roof they (inspector & roofing contractor) are calling a “crick” wasn’t covered in metal roofing material only what he called a “modified commercial grade roofing material” which just looks like asphalt....

I’m being told by both parties that this low-pitched roof area does not need metal and that it was packed (not sure what that means?) and done correctly. We as the home owners feel this is not satisfactory esthetically, but really need expert reasoning and explanation as to why this area can’t be covered in metal? By the way, this was most definitely the area that had LOTS of leaking going on!

You know, all things considered, despite the aesthetics, this was probably not the worst option. This area appears to be too low pitch for the metal panels that were used on your roof, plus the converging angles. One option would have been a large hand-formed metal pan rather than the product that was used.
