We are in the process of a house remodel. We are planning to have an unvented roof (cathedral/vaulted ceilings). Our plan was to have standing seam metal roof over titanium psu 30 underlayment on roof decking then insulate the interior with closed cell spray foam. I am in climate zone 6a. We have been told we shouldn’t use the titanium psu30 on a non vented roof but also finding traditional felt isn’t a good option under metal. Is there another product we should look at? Is this configuration with closed cell spray foam correct? Any input would be appreciated.

This sounds like a good plan. I do understand the concern regarding self-adhering underlayment over an insulated roof though. I would suggest checking with local building code and also your roof manufacturer regarding their underlayment requirements. However, you should be fine with a quality synthetic underlayment -- one of the mechanically fastened ones rather than a self adhering product. Titanium makes such a product, and so do many others.

Nothing wrong with synthetic underlayment in this case. Just make sure that it is rated for metal applications and high heat and you should be all good.
