i HAVE RECENTLY DECIDED TO REMODEL OUR 100 YR OLD FARMHOUSE. IT STARTED WITH MY WIFES FRIEND WHO QUOTED US AND STARTED CONSTRUCTION. WHEN IT GOT COLD HE DECIDED TO QUIT ON US. WITH THE INSIDE OF OUR HOUSE EXPOSED, AND WATER LEAKING AND OTHER PIECES OF HOME EXPOSED TO ELEMENTS. WE ARE CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN LITIGATION AGAINST FIRST CONTRACTOR. IN THE MEANTIME, WHILE IN WINTER WE HAD AN EMERGENCY. SO WE FOUND A SECONDARY CONTRACTOR WHO CAME OUT RIGHT AWAY AND FINISHED THE JOB UP. WE WERE GRATEFUL. NOW A MONTH AFTER WE ARE SEEING THE AFTERMATH OF THE SECOND CONTRACTOR. I DECIDED TO POKE MY HEAD INTO THE ATTIC THATS WHEN I NOTICED WE HAD OUR HANDS FULL. INCCORECT RIDGE CAP INSTALL. LEAKS AROUND CHIMNEY, FLASHINGS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY. NO UNDERLAYMENTS AGAINST BATTENS, OTHER SIDE ROOF AGAINST WOOD SHAKE/SHINGLES. NO SHEATHING EITHER.
i HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THIS SECOND CONTRACTOR AND HE SEEMS LIKE HE IS GOING TO COME BACK AND FIX RIDGE.
MY QUESTIONS ARE, SHOULD THERE BE AT LEAST A UNDERLAYMENT AGAINST BATTENS? OR SHOULD THERE ALSO BE SOME SORT OF SHEATHING TO FASTEN AGAINST? ARE THESE CONSIDERED CODE VIOLATIONS?
I LIVE IN OHIO.
IM AT A LOSS FOR STRIKING OUT 2 TIMES. AND HAVE LOST ALOT OF MONEY BETWEEN 2 CONTRACTORS. BEEN TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF ENOUGH. IM PRETTY HANDY AND CAN DO THESE JOBS MYSELF, BUT WITH A YOUNG FAMILY ITS HARD TO GET AWAY.

Im not sure on the brand. We have Local Amish that produce it. But it is a 50 yr pro rib Steel Black.

Have you reached out to the panel fabricator to ask them to weigh in? That is usually a first course of action.
