I was told by a roofer experienced in metal roof installation that Chinese steel rusts prematurely. Are there roof panels made in the US from American steel?

There is nothing inherent to Chinese steel that makes it rust "prematurely". The member manufacturers of the Metal Roofing Alliance have agreed to produce panels made from high quality metals. In many cases, that will be American steel but even if it isn't, it still meets defined quality standards.
