Hello, I’m installing a metal roof over shingles on a newly built home. I was going to lay the metal directly on the shingles and push it up u see the existing flashing. There are two areas that I’m not sure what to do tho. Please help.

Thanks! I do suggest a layer of underlayment (preferably a heavy synthetic) over the old shingles. Also, for walls, I really encourage removing the siding and installing a new flashing up the wall, and re-installing the flashing.

Appears that the siding installers, props to them, installed a counter flashing between the Fiber Cement siding and the roof. That is the white metal material. The black metal is apron flashing.
What type of metal roof are you putting on? If its my home, I cut the siding back a bit to install a proper counter/apron detail that extends behind the siding and WRB (Weather resistant barrier) and over the top of the roof.
