Hi. I am putting a new roof on my stand alone shop in my backyard. I have chosen to go with corrugated metal panels. Do I need to put down plywood, or can I screw the sheets directly to the framing of the roof?

The first step is to make sure that you install the metal panels you purchase according to their manufacturer specifications. There are products that can be installed without solid decking but they will require horizontal battens of some sort -- they will not affix direct to the vertical rafters of the shop. Please note that not having decking could promote the possibility of condensation on the underside of the roof panels (especially if the shop ever has warm, moist air in it compared to the outside air) and could also possibly lessen the wind resistance of the roof system a bit.
