My contractor just installed a standing seam metal roof over our front porch. At the base of the roof where the metal meets the drip edge, it appears to be exposed and or lifted from the underlayment. After doing a bit of research, I've seen other roofs where the installers have bent the roof and wrapped it around the drip edge. What is the standard practice for installation?

I'd always refer back to the manufacturer of the panels for the eave detail but there are three basic options and I have seen them all done: 1) Open like yours; 2) Folded around a starter; and 3) Screwed down with exposed fasteners. I am not a fan of #1 due to wind uplift potential. Changing yours to be #2 is probably impossible without removing everything, #3 is secure but it does add exposed fasteners to an otherwise concealed fastener system.
