I had a metal roof installed a few years ago. Why is the peak getting moldy? What are the typical roof layers and what is the order they should be installed? Contractor suggests the architect designed it without proper venting and says it can’t breathe properly. He says I need a dehumidifier to pull moisture out. There are also active leaks — like water dripping — around chimneys. Does this look like a design or an install issue? And,
most importantly, how do I remedy it?

Typically, for conventional construction, the ideal layers from the living space out are ceiling, vapor barrier, insulation, properly vented airspace, roof deck, roof underlayment, roofing material. (That said, other assemblies can work as well.)
