Craftsmanship

My girlfriend and I bought house a little over a year ago that had a metal roof. We bought it auction and was told by owner (68 year old woman) and auction company that all was good because the house was just built in 2009. Shame on me for not getting an inspection first off. So we had to have it replaced because of leaking and metal was just put on the rafters with no decking. Went through probably 20 plus contractors for quotes and suggestions and ended up with one of the higher quoted because of how their system is and by how the quality of work was described to us. Well not even a week after completion we had some minor leaks and issues. We have been working with them in trying to get the repairs done and now that they have their $95k we are having issues. My question for you all is the craftsmanship of the installation just as important as the functionality of the metal roof? I am being told by the companies owner that I am part of a 1% that gets on the roof and looks at the work completed. I am questioning the craftsmanship of their work and told that’s not what they focus on and that I have probably chose the wrong company. He said a number of times that this standard for the metal roof industry and all metal roof installers just focus on functionality over craftsmanship. Todd I think if you click on the writing above the picture you can see you will be able to see the other one. They are the manufacture and installer. They buy the coils of steel and form them at their shop. So on 60% of the gutters the screens aren’t in all the way or pushed to far in, some of the ice dams look like they were kicked around or ran over before they were installed, ridge caps are flush on one side and have 1 1/2” to 2” gaps on the other side, foam missing at the end where it meets the gutters, large gaps between metal and decking, and the list goes on. The worst part of it is the owner said it looks good from the street level and shouldn’t be looking that close.
