Hi, having a standing seam installed. Have a few questions. They are using several piece coming off dormer. My concern is will it leak and is this standard practice? Also you can see the butal tape everywhere. Finally where the ridge caps are riveted are all dented. Like to much pressure was used connecting them. I've looked at other roofs and does not seem to be the case.

I would suggest discussing these things with your installer and even with whoever provided the roofing panels. Sometimes piecing panels around protrusions is unavoidable and, yes, it can be done in a watertight fashion. That said, I am not entirely sure why they did it here nor am I sure it will be watertight (nor am I sure it won't be watertight). As far as the sealant, what they have done is messy and I agree it doesn't look good. It doesn't have to be that way. As far as the hip cap, oftentimes those are friction-fitted to Z Cleats, really minimizing the number of screws.
