Hello. I just have a roof installed, and the they had to come back to finish one last detail which was a hip roof on the side of the house. The house has aluminum siding.
The flashing seems to be glued with silicone to the exterior of the aluminum siding. It’s on a vacation house so I’m not there right now but after talking to the installer he thinks that the flashing was pushed perpendicular into the wall by half-inch with a metal shaft straight into the wall would either one of these be correct?

Thanks. I don't think that is aluminum siding. It appears to be some kind of wood or fibrous cement product. In any event, I'd prefer to have seen the siding removed, flashed behind, and then the siding re-installed. Ideally, that kind of thing should have been specified in the contract. What has been done is not terribly out of the ordinary but would not have been my preference. The other method would have taken more time and come with the risk of damaging the siding.
