Hello all,
I plan on reroofing my house with metal panels and was hoping to get any advice on how to install sidewall/ end wall metal flashing on a wood shingle wall. Do you use reglets like you would on stucco or brick? Is that even possible?

Typically it is not feasible to cut a reglet in wood shingles. I know it's a pain but ideally the wood shingles should come off, the flashing installed, and the wood shingles re-installed. Due to their uneven nature, flashing on top of them is pretty tough to do and expect it to be watertight.

Hi Todd, Thanks for your reply. I removed shakes from my roof with a shingle ripper but I’m not sure I could do the same with the shingles on the walls without destroying them as they are much more prone to brake…I was also thinking about sliding the flashing under the first course of shingles (closest to roof) while making sure that none of it (flashing) is exposed between the shingles on the 2nd course. I think I’d end up with a much cleaner job that way and that it’d would provide a tight fit.
